The mighty Waiau River is a highly productive, consistent river and holds very healthy stocks of Rainbow and Brown trout.

Our experience offers an easier day's fishing using the jet boat to get around and save the legs for another day. The river is also reasonably sheltered and fishes well at almost any water level.

"We were recommended to fish with Mark from Fish Jet by a good friend of ours. What a FANTASTIC experience this turned out to be. From the time we made the booking with Christine, we were treated like royalty. The trout fishing was absolutely awesome with most trout being at least three to four pounds. Their jet boat is virtually brand new and an excellent platform to drift fish from. The rumble of the 350 V8 engine was great. We were on to the fish almost immediately and ended up catching around 20 beautiful trout while drifting down river in some of the most beautiful scenery that NZ has to offer. The fishing gear provided was first class, and more importantly, the hospitality we were shown was really excellent! We have fished all over the world including New Zealand, and experienced one of our best fishing trips ever. Fished hooked up aggressively, we had them tail walking, jumping and fighting hard. I don't know who was more excited, the fish or us! If you are considering fishing in NZ, do yourself a big favour and experience some of the best trout fishing with Fish Jet. We highly recommend the experience that Fish Jet offers. Eric "Maddog" Morgen and Brian "The Colonel" Sanders, That's Fishing TV Productions, Australia.
